Home Not On Time

After a extremly busy month in our own lives with work there has been no time for blogging and many headaches with the house. A Small amount of progression on the house has happened but not enough for when you are substantially behind schedule. Ironically our home will not be on time to contract, not on time for Christmas, not on time for a planned birthday party in the New Year, Not on time for holidays booked to move in, Not on time for our sanity not on time for anything really. So looks like we will be waiting!!!!!!!!!!

We now have plasterboard up but still problems that need fixing, bricks have had a small amount done but still not finished roof tiles not finished and letting water in the house in the house damaging the plasterboard in 3 locations and the good side we have 3 free swimming pools everytime it rains YEAH!!!!

We have made great progress on our tiling (THANKS WILLY) and I love our 600 x 600mm tiles. We have been doing them ourselves (WELL WILLY HAS AND MY DAD AND MY GRANDPA) so that is on time, unfortunately due to the house being behind schedule they have to work around everything else best they can and now so will every other tradie when they come into finish.
On another good note our kitchen has started to go in (THANKS GORDON) unfortunately the cornice in the kitchen which should not be there will have to be worked around but most of the kitchen will be installed and once the wet seal has been done in the bathrooms etc he will be able to install all the other units that are already onsite.
Anyway, there are many many more things that need fixing to many to list and hopefully there will be some urgency with the site and the matters.

Here is some progress pictures

Thats A Wrap

Getting ready for the bricks to go up, anyone want to start bricking? The house got fully wrapped ironically in blue on monday and since then the sky has been grey with storms coming through every afternoon with many suburbs getting stong winds and hail.

Standing on the fence line looking in

After not much for a while, we now have windows in. Bricks onsite and some internals doors in place.

Dave with the dogs. Now as we are getting closer to moving in we decided to start taking the dogs out more to get used to their new backyard once we finish of the back fence within the month we will be able to let them run loose if the bricks are in by then. We concreted in all the posts along the back and side fence line on the weekend thanks to some great friends and family, thanks guys!!!

The Calm Before The Storm

Well its going to be another slow week of not much which after having so much excitement with everything moving along so quickly it has all started to come to a grinding halt. Since the rain we have not gained any momentum infact it is now stopped, well until end of next week anyway. This probably isn't a bad thing as it has allowed us some time to organise a few things with the electrician and some internals. We have started to get pricing on our fencing materials so we can get started on that in the next weeks so the dogs can come and visit soon! We are looking at doing something similiar to this:

Roof Tiles Bring A Little Ray Of Sunshine

After another week of bad weather we got one days worth of work done on the house. The roofers worked on Saturday to our surprise and delight. We are really happy with our selection of roof tile - Boral Linea Charcoal Grey and guttering it is actually looking even better then we thought.

Goodbye El Nino Hello La Nina

It looks like El Nino is gone as we have had more rain, Its been raining plenty since we started building, so hello La Nina. It is forecast to stop raining on the weekend so I'm not sure if any work will be done this week. Hopefully the new tradies (apprentices) have been taught to put away money for a rainy day by the older tradies!

We are in the middle of that rain cell!

I've Always Wanted A Moat - Who forgot the Drawbridge?

Glad we got gutters!!!! :)))
Well this week has been uneventful. Absolutely nothing done on the house. The grass has been watered though. It rained for the entire week, which really is great as we need plenty of rain at the moment for the dams to fill. The creek down the back finally is flowing again after being almost dry for sometime. The locals who have been around the area for many years say there is platypus down parts of the creek and waterholes.

When we finally could get over to the slab (used a few planks) we got to have a look at how the water was sitting around our house and where issues are and would be. One major issues is the sewerage treatment plant and the level with the ground seems to be a rather major issue for now and for down the track.

Will add some pictures of the house with its new moat as soon as I can get them downloaded of my broken mobile phone.

Framing Cont.

  1. Front
  2. Back

A very slow week, had problems with our trusses as there was an error made during manufacturing. The frame/truss company eventually fixed the issue by Thursday; in all, 4 work days where lost. Friday the chippies were back on site continuing with the trusses and we are happy with the progress they had made. We are glad the chippies pointed out the issues doing the right thing!

Being Framed

1)Alfresco still to be concreted - Looking into living area (left) rumpus (right)
2)Front of house

3)The "slab party" that got framed - Organised to have a BBQ and a slab of beer to share amongst friends to celebrate the slab going down, the builders had other plans. We had to change it to the Framed Slab Party, damn them builders took away another reason for a party, will just have to call the next one "Fully Framed Party".
4)Back of the house from the backyard
